Zumbro Volunteer Communication 1 2022

Date: 2/26/22
Subject: Zumbro Volunteer Communication 1 2022

Greetings past and present Zumbro volunteers,

I hope you had a great Winter! Spring is right around the corner and so is the Zumbro Endurance Run! This year’s race dates are Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9, 2022. The race is always the weekend before the start of turkey hunting – this year is about as early as Zumbro ever gets.

You are receiving this email for one of the following reasons:

a.) You have already signed up to volunteer this year (thank you!) A list of those who have already signed up can be found HERE https://www.zumbroendurancerun.com/volunteer-assignments/

or

b.) You have volunteered at Zumbro in the past and we would love to have you back. If you can’t make it back to volunteer this year we hope it is because you are planning on running, crewing, spectating or just coming down to hang out to have a good time.

And… no pressure! We will have enough volunteers – if we are ever badly in need / hurting we will be sure to say as much!

If you are interested in volunteering it helps me to stay organized if you can go to the Zumbro website and sign up to volunteer HERE https://www.zumbroendurancerun.com/volunteer-signup/ – Please provide any useful information that will help me in assigning you to your volunteer position; i.e. the days and times that you are available, what position you have worked in the past, names of anyone you would like to be assigned with, other preferences, etc. If you are interested in helping with equipment cleanup and storage on Sunday April 10 at our home in Hastings, please indicate that as well.

We will continue gathering volunteer information another couple of weeks, then when we have just about everyone committed we will start making volunteer assignments – look for further communication at that time.

As always, should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. We are looking forward to seeing you all in April!

Thank You,

John Storkamp

More About the Area:
The Zumbro Endurance Run 100MI, 50MI and 17MI trail races take place within the Zumbro River Bottoms Management Unit in Southeastern Minnesota’s Bluff Country – just outside of the tiny village of Theilman, MN approximately 1:45 from Minneapolis – St.Paul, MN.  The races start and finish at the West Assembly / Horse Campground Area.  Generally speaking the Zumbro River Bottoms Management Unit lies within a portion of the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood Forest – an expansive 1.7 million acre tract of Minnesota hardwood forest on the Northern edge of the Driftless Region which is mainly characterized by its tall bluffs and deeply carved river valleys. This “bluff country” is rugged, hauntingly beautiful and provides the perfect venue for 100, 50 or 17 miles of trail running.
